Meet Our Governors

We have a vacancy on our governing body! If you are interested, click here to visit our vacancies page.

Message from the Chair:

As a governing body, we work to support and challenge the school leaders to provide an excellent education and learning environment for all pupils at Wath Central.

We meet regularly throughout the year to discuss and actively take part in all aspects of school life. Each Governor has a specific responsibility in school including safeguarding, finance, inclusion, SEND and curriculum as well as reviewing a range of policies that govern the operation of the school. Although we all have many other commitments including jobs, hobbies and families, we dedicate time to visit school regularly to meet with the children and staff.  Wath Central is a collaboration between staff, pupils, parents and governors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to develop to their full potential.

We celebrate and are very proud of the achievements of our pupils and staff.

I have lived in Wath for many years and my children attended Wath Central. My granddaughter is a pupil here now.  As a retired Headteacher I was keen to use my knowledge and skills to support our local community and our local school, so am pleased to be elected as Chair of the Governors.

I grew up in Wath and was a pupil at Central in the 90's. I now have two daughters in our school. I work as a church minister in Rotherham, after moving back into the area in 2018. My own school experience at Central was brilliant and I hope as a governor to contribute to making that true for every pupil who joins our community, that they will be better people for having been with us.

I have been a co-opted governor since 2019, and I am thrilled to be part of the support team for Wath Central.  I have two boys who both attend the school and I am so reassured of the efforts that go on behind the scenes to ensure that all students are supported.

I have worked in education for 20 years, including 15 as a teacher in the local area.  I have always been very passionate about helping students achieve their full potential and hope to do the same in this role.  I have a very keen interest in how the curriculum is delivered in school, as well as how students respond to this.  I particularly enjoy seeing our students improving and succeeding.

The governing body is here to support the staff and students at the school, so if there is anything you wish to ask, please do get in touch.

My name is Amy Shaw. I am a Year 6 teacher at Wath Central and represent our staff on the governing body, in my role as staff governor. I am passionate about our school community and a firm believer in our principles of providing authentic care to children. Prior to training as a teacher, I had over 10 years' experience working in Health and Safety Management and have also spent time working as a Training Coordinator and Retail Manager. I love spending time with my family, cooking, reading and being outdoors, exploring historical sites and nature reserves.

I joined Wath Central Governing Team in October 2020 as a Parent Governor, I am very proud to be a part of the support team at our school and passionate about my role. I have two girls who both attend WCPS and have a wonderful school life.

My very first job was working in a local secondary school office, I loved it! I moved into the housing section at RMBC for a further 8 years supporting families in all aspects of their housing needs before taking the leap and setting up a small marketing business. I have gained many valuable interpersonal skills over the years which I feel will help me to support the school in my role as a governor. I am approachable, honest and trustworthy so if you have anything thing you would like to talk about please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Vicki 😊
