Our Living Values - Our commitment to genuinely inclusive character development.

We believe in genuine inclusion and therefore it is vital that our values are relevant to every child in our school.  Our demographic is very special as our children vary in their stage of development from several months to 13 - 14 years.  We are a values led school and therefore are excited to develop a progressive system whereby we can teach our values to every child, regardless of their stage of development and regardless of their curriculum pathway.

Each of the five values allows for a progression of thought and understanding.  For example, we begin with the teaching of 'Kindness' and when ready, we progress to the teaching of 'Empathy'.  This can be whenever the child is ready for this, without judgment so we may have a Y3 child who has a good understanding of 'Empathy' but a Y6 child who is developing their understanding of 'Kindness'.

We teach these values directly and deliberately and recognise children's demonstration of them.  We strive to embed these values through the culture of school but also teach directly through the curriculum and through a Weekly Values Assembly.  Here, we identify the value of focus across different contexts and break down the value into specific qualities which help all children to access this and demonstrate this during the week.
